Otis Redding – Pain in my heart

This is the post excerpt.

What better way to start a music blog about my collection of records than with the first album of my favourite artist Otis Redding.

Brief History

A legend when it comes to Soul, Rhythm and Blues, songwriting and of course singing he was born September 9th 1941 in Dawson, Georgia his breach in to music started when he left school and worked in Little Richard’s backing band The Upsetters, before he joined Johnny Jenkin’s band The Pinetoppers in 1958 as a singer and driver.

His Solo career was born out of a recording session in 1962 organised by Phil Walden the bands manager, Jenkin’s had left a few minutes of his recording time which gave Otis just enough time to record a ballad “These Arms of Mine” which is the first song on the second side of this record, during 1962 and 1963 he recorded the album “Pain in my heart” and it was released January 1st 1964 making him only 22 at the time.
